FCC regenerator vessel arrives in the Port of Valleyfield

A 202 ton regenerator vessel used in the production of petroleum products rolled into and out of the Port of Valleyfield. Valport crews were on hand this weekend to build a special berm and ramp to load the monstrous component. This single unit will be barged to the Port of Duluth, Minnesota and then once off-loaded, transported by special truck and trailer to it’s final destination at the Woods Cross Refinery for Holly Frontier in Woods Cross, Utah. The unit measures an amazing 64’ X 19'W X  18’H – one very wide load.

HollyFrontier produce and market gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and specialty lubricant products. The regenerator is part of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process. A FCC is one of the most important conversion processes used in petroleum refineries. It is widely used to convert the high-boiling, high-molecular weight hydrocarbon fractions of petroleum crude oils to more valuable gasoline, olefinic gases, and other products.
